The VIP Pass is given free of charge to any guest staying at least one night in the Val de Bagnes between 1 June and 31 October. It gives free access to six sections of pedestrian ski lifts, the valley buses, the Le Châble–Sembrancher train and the outdoor swimming pool in Mondzeu.
Many of our tenants discover its existence on the day of their departure. This is a shame, because for a family, it is often more valuable in a single day than the total amount of tourist tax paid for the week. Here's exactly what it covers, what it doesn't, and how to receive it.
What is the VIP Pass and how much does it cost?
The VIP Pass cannot be bought: it is financed by the tourist tax that you pay to your accommodation provider. It is issued to all visitors spending at least one night in the Verbier – Val de Bagnes – La Tzoumaz region, from 1 June to 31 October.
- Format : a digital "Mobile Card" sent by e-mail via your hosting provider. A printed version is still possible if there is no connection.
- Validity : upon arrival at the accommodation or the next day. The rule is simple — one paid night equals one day of use.
- Children : from 6 years old, after payment of the tourist tax. Children under 6 years old do not receive any.
- Exclusion : main residents of the Val de Bagnes are not entitled to it.
Which lifts are included?
Six sections are accessible free of charge to pedestrians with a valid VIP Pass:
- Le Châble – Verbier
- Verbier – Les Ruinettes
- Les Creux – Savoleyres
- La Tzoumaz – Savoleyres
- Le Châble – Mayens de Bruson
- Moay – La Pasay
Beware of a limit that few guides mention: to go higher, to La Chaux and Mont-Fort, a reduced rate connection ticket is still necessary. The VIP Pass opens up the middle mountains, not the summits.
How much is the VIP Pass really worth?
The calculation is done in a few seconds with the pedestrian rates for the summer of 2026. A return trip from Le Châble to Verbier costs CHF 12.80 for an adult and CHF 6.40 for a child; a return trip Verbier – Les Ruinettes, CHF 25 and CHF 13.
For a family of two adults and two children who do these two sections in the same day, this represents CHF 114.40 for a single day. However, the tourist tax for the same family over a week amounts to about CHF 84. In other words: a single day of use of the lifts already reimburses the entire tax paid for the stay. Over three days of rides, the value exceeds CHF 340.
That's why we always mention the VIP Pass when you hand over the keys: it changes the economics of a family stay.
Bus, train and swimming pool: what else does it cover?
The VIP Pass also serves as a ticket. It entitles you to the bus lines of the Val de Bagnes without an additional ticket, as well as free train between Le Châble and Sembrancher. Enough to reach the start of the trails or go down to the plain without taking the car again — a real comfort when you stay in Verbier resort and parking is complicated in high season.
For relaxation, access to the outdoor swimming pool in Mondzeu is included. The sauna and fitness area are still subject to a fee. In addition, there are cultural and sporting activities offered by the tourist office, some free, others at preferential rates: the programme changes every summer, it must be consulted on arrival.
How to get your VIP Pass?
You do not have to take any steps with the tourist office. The accommodation provider announces your stay, collects the tourist tax and the pass will be sent to you by e-mail. If you have not received anything when you arrive, check your spam folder and then contact your host directly: he is the one who triggers the broadcast.
For our holiday rentals in Verbier, the tourist tax is already included in the price displayed: the pass is therefore automatic, with no extra charge to be paid on site.
What the VIP Pass does not cover
- Winter. The scheme is exclusively summery. From November to May, you need a ski pass to use the lifts, including as a pedestrian.
- High-altitude sectors La Chaux and Mont-Fort, which require a connection ticket.
- Children under 6 years old, who do not get a pass.
- The sauna and fitness centre in Mondzeu, reserved for paid admission.
Frequently asked questions about the VIP Pass
Is the VIP Pass really free?
It is not charged separately, but is financed by the visitor's tax of CHF 4 per night per adult. So you don't pay anything more than you already owe.
How many days can I use it?
As many days as nights booked: one paid night entitles you to one day of use. A seven-night stay therefore opens up seven days of access.
Does it work in the winter?
No. The period runs from June 1 to October 31 only. Outside these dates, no benefits are granted.
Can I go up to Mont-Fort with the VIP Pass?
Not directly. The pass takes you to the Ruinettes; beyond that, towards La Chaux and then Mont-Fort, a reduced rate connection ticket must be purchased at the ticket office.
What if I haven't received it?
Contact your accommodation provider, not the tourist office: the issuance depends on the declaration of stay and the payment of the tax. Write to us if you are staying in one of our apartments.
